A High-Performance Rainscreen Solution for a Landmark Development

Central Park is a prestigious development in Brighton featuring a contemporary facade designed to combine clean architectural lines with high levels of performance and durability. For this project, Metalline supplied its UNITY DF discrete fix rainscreen cassette system, with a bespoke brushed anodised finish designed to complement the building’s distinctive appearance.

Working in collaboration with FILL UK and United Anodisers, Metalline developed a facade solution that met the project’s demanding aesthetic, technical and installation requirements.

The Challenge

One of the key challenges at Central Park was achieving a finish that matched the project’s existing facade while maintaining consistency across the extensive aluminium panel installation. The system also needed to provide sufficient panel stability and long-term structural performance, while allowing for an efficient installation process.

The requirement for a bespoke brushed anodised finish presented an additional challenge, with careful consideration needed to ensure the final appearance met the client’s expectations.

Our Solution

Metalline supplied its UNITY DF system, a discrete fix rainscreen cassette available in both landscape and portrait orientations. Colour-matched fixings are recessed within the shadow joint, creating a clean and consistent façade appearance.

The system incorporates anodised aluminium panels, with the panels independently tested for impact resistance, wind resistance and watertightness. The UNITY DF system is also fully non-combustible, offering A1 fire classification for anodised aluminium panels, alongside A2-s1, d0 classification for powder-coated panels.

To achieve the required brushed anodised finish, Metalline worked closely with FILL UK and United Anodisers, producing multiple working samples for client review and approval. This collaborative approach ensured the desired finish was established before full production commenced.

Alongside the aesthetic development, Metalline focused on the structural and installation requirements of the project. Careful planning and integration of stud-welded stiffeners, supported by detailed 3D CAD modelling, enabled the panels to achieve the required stability while allowing for precise and efficient installation.

The UNITY DF panels were successfully supplied and installed by FILL UK, delivering a clean, contemporary rainscreen facade that complements the architectural character of Central Park.
