Metalline: Architectural Fabrications: Ultima Panels

The Ultima Curtain Walling Glazing Panel from Metalline is aptly named, due to its advanced structural and firesafe properties, in comparison to conventional glazing panels. Metalline have developed the Ultima Panel in response to the increasing demands made by Insurance Companies and Part L of the Building Regulations.

The Ultima Panel with its non-combustible mineral wool core has been designed to help give specifiers a cost effective alternative solution to composite panels with problematic lightweight foam insulation cores.

Typical Construction

2mm aluminium outer skin, polyester powder coated
High density edge strip to resist crushing forces of fixing system
Polymer filament net facing allows for greater structural bonding
NXR Lamella 124kg/m2 key to the overall structural strength, fire, thermal and acoustic properties
1mm pre galvanised steel tray, adding further strength

Fire Performance
Metalline's Ultima Panel uses NXR Lamella board as its insulation core. The mineral wool base slab used in the manufacture of the Lamella board is an inherently firesafe and non-combustible material. In the event of fire the core gives off no known toxic gases.

The Ultima panel complies with the LPC Design Guide for Fire Protection of Buildings 2000, clause 6.4.1.

Acoustic Performance
The insulation core used in the Ultima Panel has been tested by the Sound Research Laboratory, to offer an acoustic performance unachievable by any other insulation type core.

Thermal Performance
The Ultima panel can meet the increasing demands of The Building Regulations Part L and Part L2 in terms of thermal performance.

Bonding and Structural Performance

All metal facings are pressure bonded to the insulation core using an adhesive which can withstand -40 oC to +140 oC.

The Lamella structure of the insulation board provides superb integrity, rigidity, flatness and inbuilt structural performance.

Environmental Performance
The Ultima panel uses NXR Lamella insulation core which is CFC and HCFC free, has no effect on the Ozone layer and is totally biodegradable. It is completely vermin and rot proof and does not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. It is also resistant to most acids and weak alkaline solutions and repels water due to the presence of water repellant additives.

Finishes
A variety of finishes are available in either metallic or plain colours. These include polyester powder coated, anodised, PVF2 coated, plastisol coated, or polished.

Insurance Issues
To Metalline's knowledge the Ultima panel with its non-combustible core, will always be favoured by insurers.
